Justin Theroux has expressed that his former wife, Jennifer Aniston, is still “very special” to him, six years after their divorce.
In a recent interview with *The Times*, the star of *Beetlejuice* discussed his past relationship with Aniston, who is now 55.
The two began dating in 2011 and got engaged the next year. They married in a backyard ceremony in August 2015 but announced their separation in early 2018.
Despite their divorce, the two have maintained a strong friendship, which Theroux emphasized in the interview.
“She is still very special to me,” the 53-year-old actor said about his connection with the *Friends* alum.
Theroux also commented on Aniston’s recent response to Senator J.D. Vance’s remarks from 2021 regarding women like Vice President Kamala Harris, suggesting they are “childless cat ladies who are miserable.”
“Absolutely, I feel protective,” said the *Mulholland Drive* actor. “But she handled the criticism brilliantly, as she should.”
Aniston had previously taken to Instagram on July 24 to express her disbelief over Vance’s past comments, especially considering his potential candidacy for Vice President in 2024.
“All I can say is… Mr. Vance, I hope your daughter has the opportunity to have children one day,” Aniston wrote, having shared her own IVF experiences before. “I hope she won’t need to rely on IVF as a second option because you’re trying to take that away from her too.”
In November 2022, Aniston opened up to *Allure* about her struggles with infertility and attempts at IVF.
Theroux is currently engaged to Nicole Brydon Bloom, having proposed in late August in Italy. Bloom, 30, showcased her engagement ring at the premiere of *Beetlejuice* during the Venice Film Festival.
