Overview of the Recall

A popular macaroni and cheese brand, Reser’s Fine Foods, has issued a voluntary recall for select products sold at major retailers such as Target and Safeway. This decision is due to potential spoilage linked to refrigeration issues.

Details of the Affected Products

The recall affects two specific items: Reser’s American Classics Macaroni & Cheese (12 oz) and the White Cheddar variant (12 oz). These products were distributed in various states, including California, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Reason for the Recall

The recall was initiated after a malfunction in a refrigeration unit on a trailer was reported, raising concerns about the safety of the macaroni and cheese products. The situation has been classified as a Class II risk by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), indicating that while the products may cause temporary health issues, the likelihood of serious consequences is low.

Other Products Included in the Recall

In addition to the macaroni and cheese products, Reser’s has recalled twelve other items, including:

  • Reser’s Essential Everyday Original Potato Salad – 16 oz
  • Reser’s American Classics Scalloped Potatoes – 12 oz
  • Reser’s American Classics Asiago Creamed Spinach – 12 oz
  • Reser’s Raspberry Parfait Desserts – 8 lbs

Consumer Advisory

Customers who have purchased any recalled products are strongly advised not to consume them. Individuals with food allergies should take extra precautions and check their pantries for the affected items.

Previous Recalls

This is not the first recall for Reser’s Fine Foods. In July, the company recalled Hill Country Fare Mustard Potato Salad (48 oz), sold in H-E-B and Joe V’s Smart Shop locations in Texas, due to contamination concerns involving hard plastic pieces.
