The Rogersville Review reported the incident shortly after 8:30 a.m., with local authorities confirming his involvement in a small aircraft accident.
A Hall of Famer in Dirt Late Model racing, Bloomquist is celebrated as one of the all-time greats in the sport, boasting an unparalleled career record.
Beyond his impressive achievements on the track, Bloomquist’s charismatic personality resonated deeply with Dirt Late Model fans nationwide.
In recent years, he faced numerous health challenges, including a leg injury from a motorcycle accident and a foot injury he sustained before the 2023 Dirt Track World Championship at Eldora Speedway. He was also recently hospitalized due to a peculiar incident involving a horsefly bite.
Despite these setbacks, Bloomquist remained determined to return to winning form at major Dirt Late Model events.
He and his father had a passion for flying vintage aircraft and showcased their collection during the Road to Eldora in 2022.
