Barcelona’s pursuit of winger Federico Chiesa seems to have come to an end, as the player is set to join Liverpool on a four-year deal, according to Fabrizio Romano

Despite Barcelona’s hopes of making a late bid for Chiesa, the 26-year-old, who has fallen out of favor at Juventus, has decided not to wait any longer. He had been heavily linked with a move to Barça after the club missed out on Nico Williams.

Initially, it seemed Chiesa was keen on joining Barcelona and was willing to be patient, despite the club’s challenging Fair Play situation. However, he has now shifted his focus to Liverpool.

Reports indicate that Chiesa and Liverpool are close to finalizing personal terms, with only a few details remaining. The Reds, who expressed interest earlier this week, are moving quickly to complete the transfer, with negotiations with Juventus progressing as well.

As both clubs work towards agreeing on a transfer fee, it appears Chiesa is set to make the switch to England. With his departure as an option and Kingsley Coman attracting attention from Saudi Arabia, Barcelona may finish the transfer window without acquiring a new left winger, which has been a top priority throughout the summer.

Additionally, Marc Bernal’s injury may prompt Barcelona to seek a new midfielder, but the club’s salary cap constraints complicate matters.
