Caitlin Clark’s bid for victory was thwarted on Saturday night as the Minnesota Lynx defeated the Indiana Fever 90-80, extending their winning streak to six games.
Despite Clark’s solid performance, scoring 23 points – her 13th 20-point outing of the season – the Fever were unable to overcome the Lynx’s hot shooting. Minnesota connected on 11 three-pointers, including six in the opening quarter, to build an early lead.
Saturday’s loss marked the first time Clark had been defeated in the state of Minnesota since the start of her college career. She had previously gone a perfect 9-0 when playing in the state, including winning the 2023 and 2024 Big Ten tournament titles at Target Center with the University of Iowa. Her personal winning streak in Minnesota was snapped at 10 games.
The Fever struggled early, going 0-for-7 from beyond the arc in the first quarter as Clark shot 1-for-8 from the field. However, they rallied in the second quarter, with Clark catching fire and helping Indiana close the halftime deficit to just one point.
Minnesota re-established control in the third quarter, scoring on their first five possessions to stretch the lead back to double digits. While the Fever made several runs to cut the deficit, the Lynx had an answer each time, ultimately prevailing by a 10-point margin.
Minnesota’s Napheesa Collier led all scorers with 31 points. Clark finished the night with 23 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds, 1 steal, and 7 turnovers, with her best performance coming in the second quarter when she scored 9 points.
The Fever will look to rebound on Monday when they visit the Atlanta Dream.
